Services We Offer

Harm Reduction Services

Our harm reduction services include:

  • Harm reduction supplies: We offer a safe and confidential environment for individuals who use drugs to access free harm reduction supplies, such as sterile injection equipment (like syringes), safer smoking and snorting kits, wound care kits and drug testing strips.

  • Naloxone distribution: We provide overdose response training and distribute naloxone (also known as Narcan), a life-saving medication that can reverse opioid overdoses.

  • Safer sex supplies: We offer free and accessible supplies for safer sex practices, including condoms and other barriers, and information on sexual health.

  • Education and counseling: Our dedicated team of harm reduction experts provides education and counseling on safer substance use, overdose prevention and response, harm reduction strategies and more. We empower individuals with knowledge to make informed choices and take charge of their health.

  • Referrals and support: We connect our participants with additional resources, including mental health support, housing assistance, food resources, substance use treatment, etc.

  • Community outreach: We engage with the community through workshops, events and partnerships to raise awareness and reduce stigma surrounding substance use.

Street Outreach

People experiencing homelessness or facing housing insecurity have unique needs. If they use drugs, these needs can be even more complex. By literally meeting people where they are, we can deliver harm reduction services and resources to individuals who are not able to get to our physical location at Jefferson County Public Health.

Peer Support

Peer support is the process of giving non-clinical counseling to support long-term recovery. Peer support is delivered by a peer specialist who has lived experience of recovery and has been trained to guide others through the recovery process. Peer specialists can assist you in creating and maintaining a recovery plan, which can help you to enhance your quality of life.

HIV, Hepatitis C and Syphilis Testing

We offer free, confidential and nonjudgmental HIV, hep C and syphilis testing. Knowing your status can help decrease the spread of disease, and give you power and control over your health. We also offer a variety of prevention tools, and if needed we can help connect individuals to accessible, stigma-free medical care.
